Qualifications

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Safety Officer for an urgent placement at Union Concentrator, Mortimer (North-West Province).

  • Contract Duration: 6 Months (Fixed-Term)
  • Salary: R65,000 R75,000 per month (TCTC)
  • Start Date: ASAP
Requirements
  • SAMTRAC Occupational Health & Safety Management Qualification (or equivalent).
  • Occupational Health & Safety / Construction Health & Safety (NQF Level 3-5).
  • SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health & Safety (CHS) Practitioner (advantageous).
Experience & Knowledge
  • 10+ years of experience in Mining/Mineral Processing projects.
  • Strong understanding of Mine Health & Safety Act, OHS Act, and Construction Regulations.
  • Proven ability to implement and maintain SHE management systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce strict safety protocols to ensure Zero Harm on site.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and compliance audits.
  • Ensure pre-employment and exit medicals are conducted for all employees.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective measures.
  • Ensure all SHE standards, procedures, and legal requirements are met.
  • Drive a safety-first culture by conducting toolbox talks and training sessions.
  • Provide detailed monthly SHE reports and liaise with management on safety concerns.
  • Ensure subcontractors meet statutory responsibilities under MHSA & OHS Act.
  • Serve as the appointed 2.17.1 under MHSA.
