Job summary

Elanco, a global leader in animal health, seeks a Head of Sales, Ruminants for South Africa. You will lead commercial activities across intensive and extensive ruminant sectors, owning strategy, profit performance and execution to deliver sustainable growth.

You will recruit and coach a high-performing team, build strategic relationships, and leverage market insights to guide brand and lifecycle strategies across veterinary products and diagnostic services.

Qualifications

• Veterinary degree and eligible registration with South African Veterinary Council.
• +7–10 years of progressive experience in animal health or veterinary pharmaceutical industry.
• At least 2–3 years in senior commercial management with sustained revenue and market share growth.
• In-depth knowledge of ruminant therapeutics, livestock production systems, and parasite control programmes.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in an international matrix organisation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute multi-year and annual commercial plans for the ruminant business with profit and loss accountability.
• Lead commercial and technical positioning of Elanco’s ruminant portfolio, including parasiticides, vaccines, antimicrobials, feed additives and diagnostics.
• Build strategic relationships with feedlots, dairy integrators, wholesalers, cooperatives, distributors and livestock producers.
• Use market intelligence and customer insights to identify growth opportunities and respond to market trends.
• Recruit, coach and retain a high-performing sales and technical field team through structured performance management.
