Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Strength & Conditioning Coach for a prestigious rugby academy in Bloemfontein. You will design and implement periodized strength and conditioning programs for rugby athletes across age groups, working with coaches, medical staff, and sports scientists to optimize performance.

You will assess athletes, develop injury-prevention strategies, monitor progress, and educate on nutrition and recovery while ensuring safe training environments.

Qualifications

• Accredited certification in Strength and Conditioning (e.g., CSCS, ASCA Level 2/3, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with athletes in a team sport environment, preferably rugby.
• Knowledge of biomechanics, exercise physiology, and sports nutrition relevant to rugby.
• Experience in designing and implementing periodized training programs.
• Strong understanding of injury prevention and rehabilitation principles.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualized and team-based strength and conditioning programs for rugby athletes.
• Conduct comprehensive physical assessments to identify strengths, weaknesses, and injury risks.
• Develop and execute strategies for injury prevention and rehabilitation support.
• Oversee safe and effective execution of all training sessions with proper technique and load management.
• Monitor athlete progress, analyze performance data, and adjust programs accordingly.
• Educate athletes on nutrition, recovery, and lifestyle choices to optimize performance.
• Collaborate closely with coaches, physiotherapists, and sports scientists.
• Maintain accurate records of training programs, athlete progress, and injury status.
• Stay current with research and best practices in sports science and strength and conditioning.
• Ensure a safe and effective training environment at all times.
