Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Head Coach for a prestigious rugby academy in Pretoria, Gauteng. This full-time, on-site role requires hands-on coaching and elite player development, shaping the future of South African rugby.

You will lead coaching philosophy, recruit and mentor staff, analyze performance, and collaborate with sports science. A proven track record in junior elite development and Level 3 certification are essential.

Qualifications

Extensive coaching experience at a high level, developing players and teams.
World Rugby Level 3 coaching qualification or equivalent.
Understanding of rugby tactics, techniques, and development pathways.
Strong leadership and communication to inspire young athletes.
Experience in scouting, recruitment, and talent identification.

Responsibilities

Design and implement rugby coaching philosophy and curriculum aligned with best practices.
Directly coach and mentor players, focusing on skill, tactics, conditioning, and resilience.
Recruit and select academy players with pro potential.
Manage assistant coaches and support staff to high performance.
Develop individualized player development plans and track progress.
Analyze game footage and performance data to inform strategies.
Plan and manage training schedules for matches and competitions.
Collaborate with sports science and welfare staff for holistic development.
