Job summary

MA Automotive Tool and Die (PTY) Ltd in Pretoria seeks a Quality Department Manager to lead, implement and sustain quality systems across our automotive manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will drive ISO and OEM compliance, oversee audits, mentor staff, manage budgets, and pursue continuous improvement in product quality and process capability.

Experience with BMW/IATF standards and lean tools is essential, as is the ability to close corrective actions and reduce costs.

Qualifications

• Requires a B-Tech in Quality Management or equivalent.
• Demonstrated exposure to ISO and OEM quality standards.
• Experience with BMW and IATF customer standards.
• Lean manufacturing experience in automotive sector.
• Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Minimum 5 years as Quality Department Manager in automotive manufacturing.
• Proven ability to lead audits and implement corrective action.

Primary purpose of the job

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position requires the services of an individual who can effectively develop, implement, and maintain quality systems, ensuring that all subordinates work and perform according to the requirements set out in their job descriptions and quality operating system procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• B-Tech degree in Quality Management or equivalent.
• Total Quality Management.
• ISO standards (standard internal auditor).
• Customer standards (BMW) and IATF.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles, preferably in the automotive sector.
• Six Sigma tools.
• Root cause analysis and problem-solving / understanding and implementation of core tools.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Quality Department Manager in a similar complex automotive manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with press tools or assembly processes.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the automotive industry of similar complexity. Preference will be given to candidates with extensive experience in car-building, especially German-based factories.
• Working knowledge of the core quality aspects controlled by the organisation, including geometry, surface quality, and structural integrity.
