Job summary

The Focus Group is seeking a seasoned Leasing Manager to lead leasing operations for a major Western Cape shopping centre. You will develop and implement the leasing strategy, engage with tenants, negotiate leases, and work to minimise vacancy while driving rental growth.

This contract role requires at least five years in retail leasing, a relevant degree or diploma, strong tenant relationships, and proficiency with MRI lease systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of related leasing experience in retail.
• Proven ability to maintain strong tenant relationships.
• Strong management and performance oversight skills.
• Knowledge of RPE and negotiation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist in formulating, implementing, and managing the leasing strategy for the shopping centre.
• Engage with tenants to negotiate leases and close deals.
• Manage tenant screening processes such as TPN checks and surety reviews.
• Coordinate and oversee all lease documentation, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Actively manage and reduce vacancy levels within the mall.
• Maximise rental income through effective lease renewals and new deals.
• Establish and maintain relationships with new tenants entering the market.
• Ensure timely management of renewal processes.
• Monitor and verify deposits and bank guarantees.
• Oversee the lease compliance process prior to sign-off by Regional Management.
• Upload and archive all signed leases on MRI, maintaining accurate schedules.
• Provide weekly updates to senior management and submit comprehensive monthly reports.
• Liaise with auditors and valuers regarding lease and property valuation audits.
• Support the drafting of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
