Job summary

Bidvest Protea Coin is seeking a security professional for threat and risk assessment at the Rustenburg Smelter site. Respond to incidents, conduct patrols, escort personnel, enforce procedures, and manage access control.

Evacuations, incident reporting, and communication with Control Room are key duties. Applicants should have Grade 12, PSIRA Grade B, PDP, and a minimum of 2 years of reaction/armed response experience, with strong observation, reporting, and bilingual communication skills.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Valid PSIRA Grade B registration.
• Valid South African ID document.
• Valid Code 10 Driver's License.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• Valid Reaction Officer / Armed Response Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years reaction or armed response experience.
• Crowd control experience will be advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bilingual (English and any other South African language).
• Clean criminal record.
• Good observation and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Physically fit and willing to work in a mining environment.
• Willing to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.
• Knowledge of emergency response procedures and incident management.

Responsibilities

• Respond to all security-related incidents, emergencies, alarms, and suspicious activities on site.

• Attend to emergency situations and assist with evacuations.
• Maintain communication with the Control Room and Site Management.
• Compile detailed incident reports.
• Ensure security vehicles and equipment are maintained and utilized responsibly.
• Deter and prevent criminal activities, unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, unlawful gatherings, and misconduct.
• Ensure that contractual requirements are always met.

Crime scene management

Ensure compliance to the Companys disciplinary code. Knowledge of Health & Safety. Ensure that all company / client SOPs are followed. Ensure BPC policies and procedures are always followed. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of good security practice covering the physical and logical aspects of information products, systems, integrity, and confidentiality
