Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Viticulture, Oenology, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of research experience in viticulture or oenology.

• Knowledge of grape vine biology, soil science, winemaking processes, and sensory analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for reporting and collaboration.
• Ability to work in field, lab settings and remotely from Stellenbosch.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate new viticultural practices, including irrigation strategies, canopy management, and pest/disease control methods.
• Investigate advanced oenological techniques to optimize wine fermentation, aging, and sensory characteristics.
• Analyze vineyard and winery data to identify trends and provide data-driven recommendations for improvement.
• Collaborate with winemakers, vineyard managers, and other researchers to translate research findings into practical applications.
• Publish research results in scientific journals and present findings at industry conferences and workshops.
