Placements24 in the Eastern Cape invites a seasoned Crop Scientist specializing in Viticulture to advance vineyard productivity and grape quality. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or Ph.D. in Viticulture, Plant Science, or Agronomy with at least six years of research and vineyard-management experience, and strong skills in

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Viticulture, Plant Science, Agronomy
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in viticultural research and vineyard management
• In-depth knowledge of grape physiology, soil science, and pest/disease management in viticulture
• Proven experience with experimental design and statistical analysis of agricultural data
• Excellent scientific communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on grape varietal performance, soil health, and vineyard management techniques
• Design and implement field trials to evaluate cultivation methods, pest control agents, and sustainable practices
• Analyze vineyard data to monitor vine health, yield, and grape quality
• Provide technical guidance to vineyard teams on irrigation, pruning, canopy management, and disease prevention
• Collaborate with winemaking teams to ensure optimal grape characteristics for desired wine styles
