Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Research Scientist in environmental chemistry to join our Soweto team. You will lead field and laboratory studies on environmental contamination, develop analytical methods for monitoring pollutants, and contribute to remediation strategies to protect water, soil, and air quality.

You will collaborate with environmental engineers and regulatory specialists, report findings, and contribute to scientific publications in a dedicated research setting.

Qualifications

• PhD in Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry, or related environmental science field.
• Minimum 5 years of post-doctoral research experience in environmental chemistry or related disciplines.
• Strong expertise in analytical chemistry techniques for environmental monitoring (GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-OES).
• Knowledge of environmental processes, contaminant fate and transport, and remediation strategies.
• Experience with field sampling protocols and laboratory analysis of environmental samples.
• Excellent scientific writing and communication skills, with ability to present research findings.
