Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Transport Planner to optimize daily routes, monitor fleet performance, and coordinate with drivers in a fully remote SA setup. You will leverage route optimization tools to design efficient schedules, analyze data for improvements, and ensure regulatory compliance while collaborating with operations and customer service teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in transport planning, strong analytical abilities, and proficiency with Excel and GPS tracking systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in transport planning or related logistics roles.
• Experience with route optimization software (RouteXL, OptimoRoute or similar).
• Solid knowledge of transportation logistics, fleet management and supply chain principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and remote collaboration skills.
• Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Familiarity with GPS tracking systems is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent; logistics qualification preferred.
• Experience in Paarl and Western Cape is a plus but not required due to remote work.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule daily delivery routes considering windows and capacity.
• Use route optimization software to design efficient routes.
• Monitor fleet performance in real-time and adjust routes.
• Communicate route instructions and updates to drivers.
• Coordinate with operations, warehousing and customer service.
• Analyze transport data to identify trends and improvements.
• Maintain records of planned routes, times and mileage.
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations including driver hours.
• Assist with urgent deliveries and special shipments.
• Contribute to cost-saving by reducing fuel usage and mileage.
