Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly analytical Remote Transport Network Planner for a national retail chain. The role focuses on designing, evaluating, and improving transport routes, modes, and carrier strategies to maximize efficiency and cost savings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field is required.
• At least 4 years in transport planning, network design, or logistics analysis.
• Proficient with TMS and advanced Excel for data analysis.
• Knowledge of road, rail, air, and sea transport modes and their operations.
• Strong analytical, modeling, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage projects.
• Familiarity with Gauteng transport landscape is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Analyze current transport network performance to identify bottlenecks and cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop and implement optimized transportation routes, schedules, and modes.
• Evaluate and select transport carriers and negotiate SLAs and rates.
• Model network scenarios using TMS and other analytical tools to forecast demand.
• Collaborate with warehousing to integrate transport planning with inventory management.
• Monitor KPIs related to transport costs, transit times, and service reliability.
• Stay updated on transport industry trends, technologies, and regulations.
• Develop contingency plans for disruptions in the transport network.
• Prepare reports and presentations on network performance for senior management.
• Support strategic initiatives for network expansion, consolidation, or optimization.
