Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Subsea Engineer for a leading Oil & Gas innovator. This fully remote role lets you design, analyze and support subsea systems for offshore production from anywhere in South Africa, collaborating with offshore personnel and clients.

You will perform engineering analyses, develop technical specifications and drawings, and provide support throughout fabrication, installation and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of subsea engineering experience in Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency in subsea design principles and FEA/CFD software.
• Experience working in remote or distributed teams.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in the Oil & Gas industry, is actively seeking a skilled Remote Subsea Engineer to join their expanding global team. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work on critical subsea projects from your chosen location within South Africa. The engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and support of subsea systems and equipment used in offshore oil and gas production. This role involves leveraging advanced engineering software and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, offshore personnel, and clients to ensure the successful execution and operation of subsea infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation in subsea engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively in a remote setting. Key Responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis and design for subsea components, equipment, and systems (e.g., trees, manifolds, risers, flowlines).
• Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and calculations for subsea projects.
• Provide technical support during the fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases of subsea developments.
• Collaborate remotely with project teams, including geoscientists, drilling engineers, and naval architects.
• Troubleshoot operational issues related to subsea equipment and systems.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal review and client submissions.
• Participate in design reviews and HAZID/HAZOP studies.
• Stay current with technological advancements in subsea engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in subsea engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
