Placements24 seeks a Senior Process Control Engineer to design, implement, and optimize advanced process control strategies for complex chemical processes in a remote-first environment. You will develop simulation models and configure DCS/PLC systems, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance yield, energy efficiency and product quality.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in process control, strong MPC/APC knowledge, and familiarity with cybersecurity for industrial control systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
Master's degree is a plus.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in process control engineering within the chemical industry or a related sector.
Proven expertise in advanced process control (APC) software and techniques (e.g., Model Predictive Control - MPC).
Proficiency with DCS (e.g., Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV) and PLC programming.
Strong understanding of process dynamics, thermodynamics, and chemical reaction kinetics.
Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team environment.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement advanced process control (APC) strategies for complex chemical processes.
Develop and maintain process simulation models for control system design and validation.
Configure and troubleshoot distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC).
Perform root cause analysis for process upsets and implement corrective control actions.
Develop and execute commissioning plans for new control systems and modifications.
Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel remotely.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies in process control and automation and evaluate their potential application.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, R&D, and project management, to achieve project objectives.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all control system designs.
Optimize process performance for yield, energy efficiency, and product quality through advanced control techniques.
