About the Role

Our client, a leading international e-commerce platform, is seeking a motivated and experienced Remote Senior Buyer to join their global team, operating remotely from any location within South Africa, with a focus on supporting their Cape Town, Western Cape operations. This position is vital for driving strategic sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and securing the best possible terms for a diverse range of products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of procurement best practices, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven ability to operate effectively in a fully remote setting. This role offers the flexibility of remote work while contributing to a key market's supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to identify and secure high-quality suppliers and products.
• Conduct thorough market research and analysis to understand pricing trends, supplier capabilities, and potential risks.
• Lead negotiations with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing, favorable payment terms, and robust service level agreements.
• Manage and nurture supplier relationships, ensuring performance aligns with company expectations and ethical standards.
• Oversee the procurement process from sourcing to delivery, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Merchandising, Operations, Finance) to forecast demand and align procurement activities.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and continuous improvement within the procurement function.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing guidelines, and relevant regulations.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and provide regular performance reports to management.
• Act as a key point of contact for supplier-related inquiries and issue resolution.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of comprehensive experience in buying, procurement, or strategic sourcing, preferably within the e-commerce or retail sector.
• Demonstrated success in negotiating complex contracts and achieving significant cost savings.
