Placements24 is seeking an innovative Research Scientist to join a pioneering team focused on Renewable Energy Technologies, working remotely from Upington, South Africa. You will develop new energy solutions, analyze performance data and contribute to the scientific understanding underpinning the transition to clean energy.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field with a focus on energy.
Demonstrated experience in renewable energy research (solar PV, wind, or battery storage).
Proficiency in simulation software relevant to energy systems (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities

Conduct theoretical and experimental research on novel renewable energy technologies.
Analyze performance data from renewable energy installations and identify areas for optimization.
Develop and implement simulation models for energy systems and component performance.
Collaborate with engineering teams to translate research findings into practical applications and prototypes.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements and research trends in renewable energy.
Prepare research reports, publications, and present findings at conferences.
