Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Claims Adjuster specializing in Property Damage to join our client's Durban team. You will investigate, evaluate, and settle property insurance claims while communicating clearly with policyholders.

The ideal candidate has at least four years of experience in property and casualty claims, solid knowledge of building construction and estimating software, and strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years as a Claims Adjuster with focus on property and casualty.
• Knowledge of building construction, repair methods and estimating software.
• Strong investigative, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with a compassionate approach.
• Industry certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Investigate property damage claims by gathering information, interviewing claimants and witnesses, and conducting site inspections.
• Assess the extent of damage and determine the cause, comparing findings against policy coverage.
• Negotiate settlements with policyholders and third parties in a fair and timely manner.
• Prepare detailed claim reports, documenting all findings, assessments, and settlement agreements.
• Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and company claims handling procedures.
• Manage a caseload of claims, prioritizing to meet service levels and deadlines.
