Placements24 is seeking a Principal Architect for a fully remote role within South Africa, supporting projects around Bloemfontein. You will set the sustainability agenda, guide design teams, and promote eco-friendly solutions across all project phases.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in architectural practice, SACAP registration, and strong skills in energy efficiency, green building principles, and lifecycle assessment.

Qualifications

• Professional registration as an Architect with SACAP.
• 10+ years of architectural practice with a focus on sustainable design.
• Demonstrated expertise in green building, passive design and renewable energy.
• Knowledge of sustainability rating tools and certification processes.
• Excellent research, analytical and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead remote design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and integration of sustainable design strategies across project phases.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments and life cycle analyses for proposed designs.
• Research and advocate for sustainable materials, technologies and systems.
• Mentor design teams on energy efficiency, water conservation and waste reduction.
• Collaborate with consultants, clients and regulators to achieve certifications (e.g., Green Star).
• Present sustainability concepts and proposals to stakeholders, outlining benefits.
