Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly motivated Remote Postdoctoral Fellow to join a Synthetic Biology research group, based in East London, Eastern Cape. This fully remote role offers the chance to design and construct novel biological systems and pathways using cutting-edge molecular biology and computational tools.

You will collaborate with a global team of scientists, publish manuscripts, and advance interdisciplinary research while maintaining rigorous remote work practices and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in molecular cloning, genetic engineering, and functional characterization.
• Proficiency with relevant laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
• Experience with computational tools for DNA design and analysis is a strong plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer genetic circuits and metabolic pathways using synthetic biology.
• Conduct DNA assembly, gene expression analysis, and protein engineering.
• Use computational tools for sequence design and data analysis.
• Collaborate with researchers to integrate synthetic biology into broader projects.
• Troubleshoot procedures and develop robust protocols.
• Prepare reports and presentations and contribute to manuscripts.
