Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer with a strong background in organic chemistry and reaction engineering to join a predominantly remote role. You will develop and refine scalable synthesis routes, ensuring GMP-compliant processes and efficient technology transfer.

Collaborate with R&D, QA/QC, and manufacturing teams in a virtual environment to drive process optimization and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Organic Chemistry from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development and scale-up in pharmaceutical or fine chemical industries.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (Aspen Plus, Chemcad) is essential.
• Experience with GMP requirements and validation processes in the pharmaceutical sector.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, crucial for remote work.
• Familiarity with process safety management principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize chemical processes for synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs.
• Conduct process modeling and simulation to evaluate design options and efficiencies.
• Prepare detailed PFDs, P&IDs, and mass/energy balances.
• Oversee pilot-scale trials and support scale-up to commercial manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement CAPAs.
• Ensure GMP, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Write technical reports, validation protocols, and batch records.
• Collaborate with R&D, QA/QC, and manufacturing in a virtual environment.
• Manage process safety information and conduct risk assessments.
• Stay abreast of advancements in pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies and regulatory requirements.
