Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Development Engineer to advance pharmaceutical manufacturing processes remotely across South Africa. You will develop, optimize and scale processes for APIs, ensuring quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance throughout development.

Flexibility and strong documentation skills are required. Design experiments to characterize parameters, perform IQ/OQ/PQ validations, and troubleshoot deviations.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of process development and scale-up experience in pharma.
• Strong knowledge of GMP regulations and process validation.
• Proficiency in process simulation and modeling software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs.
• Design experiments to characterize process parameters and establish operating ranges.
• Scale up processes from lab to pilot and commercial scale with reproducibility.
• Conduct IQ, OQ, and PQ validation activities.
• Troubleshoot deviations and implement corrective actions (CAPAs).
• Prepare technical reports and regulatory submission documents.
• Ensure GMP compliance in all activities.
