About the Role

Our client, a multinational corporation with significant operations across South Africa, is seeking an experienced and strategic Occupational Health Manager to lead their health and wellness initiatives on a fully remote basis. This executive-level position will be responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive occupational health programs aimed at protecting and promoting the well-being of employees across all company sites. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of occupational medicine, public health principles, and South African health legislation. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to drive change through effective remote collaboration and communication. You will be instrumental in developing policies, managing health surveillance programs, and ensuring the organization meets its statutory and ethical obligations regarding employee health. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic vision for occupational health programs across the organization.
• Oversee the provision of occupational health services, including health assessments, medical surveillance, and health promotion initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant South African occupational health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
• Manage relationships with external occupational health providers and ensure quality service delivery.
• Lead and mentor a team of remote occupational health professionals and support staff.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures related to workplace health, fitness for duty, and return-to-work programs.

Requirements

• A medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) with specialization or significant postgraduate qualification in Occupational Medicine.
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a medical practitioner, with a recognized specialization in Occupational Medicine.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in occupational health, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of South African occupational health legislation (e.g., OHMP Act, OHS Act) and relevant codes of practice.
• Proven experience in developing and managing comprehensive occupational health programs.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, particularly in a virtual environment.
• Proficiency in using health management information systems and standard office software.
• Ability to manage a remote team effectively and drive performance.
