Our client is actively seeking a dedicated Remote Mortgage Underwriter to join their fully remote team, serving clients across the nation, including the Eastern Cape . In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating mortgage loan applications to assess risk and ensure compliance with lending policies and regulatory requirements. You will play a crucial part in the home-buying process, making informed decisions that balance risk mitigation with client service. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and underwrite residential mortgage loan applications, ensuring adherence to all company guidelines and regulatory requirements (e.g., FHA, VA, Conventional).
• Review credit reports, income documentation, asset verification, and property appraisals to assess borrower eligibility and loan risk.
• Make sound decisions on loan approval, denial, or counter-offer, clearly documenting rationale.
• Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues found during the underwriting process.
• Communicate effectively with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and facilitate loan closings.
• Stay current with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and investor guidelines related to mortgage underwriting.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, with a strong understanding of various loan products.
