Placements24 is seeking a Research Scientist for the Molecular Diagnostics division. This fully remote role involves designing, developing, and validating novel molecular assays, with a focus on disease detection.

You will work from anywhere, while contributing to cutting-edge diagnostic technologies and collaborating with a global team of scientists. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in a life sciences field and has at least 3 years of post-doctoral or equivalent experience in assay development,

Qualifications

• PhD in a life science field required.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑doc or equivalent research experience in assay development.
• Hands‑on experience with molecular biology techniques including PCR, qPCR, extraction and sequencing.
• Experience in diagnostic assay development is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize novel molecular diagnostic assays (PCR, qPCR, NGS).
• Conduct validation studies to assess performance characteristics (sensitivity, specificity, precision).
• Analyze and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical methods.
• Troubleshoot assay issues and implement improvements for robustness.
• Collaborate with bioinformaticians, software engineers, and clinical experts.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders.
• Stay updated with advancements in molecular biology and diagnostics.
• Contribute to IP through novel assay designs and discoveries.
