Job summary

Placements24 seeks experienced remote online tutors to deliver mathematics instruction to grades 7–12. This remote-first role focuses on engaging students in Rustenburg and beyond, using a virtual classroom platform to explain concepts clearly and adapt lessons to individual needs.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Mathematics or Education, a Master's preferred, and at least 3 years of online or remote teaching.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a closely related field.
A Master's degree is highly preferred.
Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a mathematics tutor or teacher, ideally with online or remote instruction experience.
Strong command of the full spectrum of mathematics curricula for grades 7-12.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
Proficiency in using online collaboration tools, video conferencing software, and digital whiteboards.
A reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable home office setup.
Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to help students succeed in mathematics.
Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule effectively from home.
Demonstrated ability to engage students remotely, fostering an active learning dynamic.

Responsibilities

Deliver live, one-on-one and small group online tutoring sessions in mathematics for grades 7-12 via our virtual classroom platform.
Develop and customize lesson plans based on individual student needs, learning styles, and curriculum requirements.
Effectively explain complex mathematical concepts, theories, and formulas using various online tools and visual aids.
Assess student understanding through interactive questioning, problem-solving exercises, and informal assessments during sessions.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their progress, identifying areas of strength and areas requiring improvement.
Collaborate with the academic support team to monitor student progress and adjust tutoring strategies as needed.
Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, student progress, and any challenges encountered.
Foster a positive, encouraging, and motivating online learning environment for all students.
