Job summary

SME Careers is seeking an experienced localization professional to review and produce high-quality, culturally accurate content for AI training. You will translate and localize materials, assess reasoning quality, and provide expert feedback in English and Mandarin as an hourly contractor.

The role emphasizes meticulous QA, adherence to guidelines, and proactive fact-checking across time zones, with preference for prior AI data training experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, Localization, Communications, or a related field.
• Native or near‑native Chinese (Mandarin) proficiency and strong command of the locale conventions for China.
• Minimum C1 English proficiency (reading/writing) for interpreting prompts, sources, and evaluation guidelines.
• 5+ years of professional localization/translation experience.
• Demonstrated ability to apply MQM/LQA concepts to produce consistent quality decisions.
• Proficiency with CAT tools and QA workflows (translation memory, termbases, automated checks).
• Excellent editorial judgment with extreme attention to detail.
• Ability to rigorously fact‑check localized content using reliable sources and consistent reasoning.
• Comfort working as an hourly contractor across time zones.
• Previous experience with AI data training/annotation/evaluation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI Training Content: Create detailed prompts and responses to guide AI learning across topics.
• Optimize AI Performance: Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve accuracy and contextual relevance.
• Ensure Model Integrity: Test AI models for inaccuracies or biases and validate reliability across use cases.
