Placements24 is seeking a proactive Remote Legal Compliance Officer to uphold rigorous regulatory standards across our operations from home. You will design, implement and monitor compliance programs, translate complex laws into actionable policies, and engage with regulators and auditors.

You will lead audits, train staff, manage risk, and maintain thorough records to support ethical, lawful business practices in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Admitted attorney or equivalent legal qualification with at least 6 years of experience in legal compliance or risk management.
• Deep knowledge of South African corporate law, POPIA, consumer protection and related regulatory frameworks.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive legal compliance framework across all business units.
• Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance.
• Interpret new legislation and regulations, assessing their impact and ensuring timely implementation of necessary changes.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs to employees at all levels.
• Investigate compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions and preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate records of compliance activities and prepare regular compliance reports for senior management.
