About the Role

Our client, a trailblazer in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a highly accomplished Lead Project Manager to oversee critical energy projects. This is a fully remote position, enabling you to manage projects from anywhere in South Africa, with an operational focus on projects in and around Upington, Northern Cape, ZA . You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and planning to execution, monitoring, and closure. This role requires a leader with extensive experience in managing complex, large-scale renewable energy projects, a deep understanding of project management principles, and the ability to lead diverse, distributed teams effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of renewable energy projects (solar, wind, etc.) from concept to completion.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, budgets, timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Manage and mentor remote project teams, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and performance.
• Oversee contractor and vendor management, ensuring compliance with contracts and quality standards.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement timely corrective actions.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant industry regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
• Engage with key stakeholders, including community leaders, regulatory bodies, and investors, maintaining strong relationships.
• Prepare and present regular project status reports, financial updates, and performance metrics to senior management.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in project execution and management methodologies.
• Manage project close-out activities, including documentation and lessons learned compilation.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil), Environmental Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in project management, with a minimum of 5 years specifically in the renewable energy sector.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale solar or wind energy projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage remote teams and complex projects across different geographical locations.
• In-depth knowledge of project management frameworks (PMI, PRINCE2) and Agile methodologies.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory landscapes.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, Aconex).
• PMP certification or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Must possess the ability to work autonomously and effectively in a 100% remote setup.
