Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Systems Architect to define and lead the architectural blueprint for complex electrical systems in a fully remote role across South Africa. You will guide a team of engineers, shape technical direction, and ensure scalable, reliable designs across diverse projects.

The role requires a Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years in system architecture, plus strong leadership and remote-work capabilities.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering required.
• 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience with emphasis on system architecture and design.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale, complex electrical systems.
• In-depth knowledge of power electronics, distributed systems, control theory, and network protocols.
• Experience with system modeling and simulation tools.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
• Remote work experience with strong time management.
• Strong understanding of system reliability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Define the architectural vision and strategy for electrical systems across applications.
• Lead high-level electrical system architectures for power distribution, control systems, and network infrastructure.
• Evaluate and select technologies, components, and methodologies for implementation.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and product teams to ensure integration.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Conduct architectural reviews, risk assessments, and performance analyses.
• Develop and maintain architectural documentation and design guidelines.
• Stay ahead of trends and technologies in electrical engineering and system architecture.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
• Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap development for electrical engineering domain.
