Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer specializing in Kubernetes for a contract role in Pretoria. The position is fully remote within South Africa, offering flexible hours and exposure to cloud-native platforms.

You will design, deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters across AWS/Azure/GCP, build CI/CD pipelines, and implement IaC with Terraform and Ansible. Strong scripting and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer with Kubernetes focus.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture and networking.
• Hands-on Docker/containerization experience.
• Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
• Scripting in Bash or Python.
• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Excellent problem-solving and remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications.
• Develop and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible.
• Automate deployment, scaling, and management of applications on Kubernetes.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations.
• Ensure the security and compliance of cloud infrastructure and containerized workloads.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Kubernetes, containers, and cloud services.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve application reliability and operability.
• Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure and deployment processes.
• Participate in on-call rotations for production support.
