Placements24 in East London, Eastern Cape, seeks a Junior Legal Advisor on a contract basis to support the legal team with commercial contracts, review and dispute resolution in the retail sector. The ideal candidate is a recently admitted attorney or paralegal with a solid foundation in commercial law and strong organizational skills.

You will work closely with senior counsel in a dynamic business environment, with flexible remote options and occasional site visits to East London.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney or Paralegal with relevant experience.
• Completed LLB degree or equivalent qualification.
• 0-3 years of post-qualification experience in commercial law.
• Solid understanding of contract law, consumer protection law, and basic corporate law.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently in a remote setup.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and amending commercial contracts, lease agreements, and service level agreements.
• Support the legal team in managing and resolving commercial disputes and claims.
• Conduct legal research on various commercial law topics and provide concise summaries.
• Maintain and organize legal files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of documents.
• Assist with corporate compliance matters and regulatory filings.
• Communicate with internal departments and external stakeholders as directed.
• Provide administrative support to the legal department, including scheduling and correspondence.
• Help prepare legal documentation for litigation or alternative dispute resolution processes.
• Stay informed about relevant legal developments affecting the retail industry.
