Placements24 seeks a remote Industrial Engineer specializing in Process Automation to design and optimize automated control systems for diverse manufacturing applications. You will develop PLC programs, configure SCADA, and collaborate with hardware teams to ensure safe, efficient operations.

The role emphasizes hands-on automation experience, strong problem-solving, and the ability to deliver results remotely across multiple sites, including Gauteng operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of industrial engineering experience with emphasis on process automation and control systems.
• Proven PLC programming experience (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI/SCADA development.
• Familiarity with Profinet, Ethernet/IP and related industrial networking protocols.
• Understanding of robotics and motion control is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for automation challenges.
• Excellent communication for remote collaboration.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and control diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automated process control systems.
• Develop and debug PLC programs for various platforms.
• Configure and utilize SCADA systems for monitoring and control.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate control systems with machinery.
• Troubleshoot automation issues in live production environments.
• Optimize processes for efficiency, throughput, and energy use.
• Maintain system documentation including P&IDs, control logic, and manuals.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols.
• Stay current with automation tech, robotics, and control systems.
• Provide remote technical support and training to plant personnel.
