Job summary

Nelson Mandela University is seeking an experienced Remote Instructional Designer to craft engaging online learning experiences for higher education. You will translate complex academic content into interactive, accessible courses and work closely with faculty and subject matter experts to align with curriculum goals.

The role requires mastery of e-learning tools and LMS platforms, a solid grasp of adult learning theory and universal design for learning (UDL), and excellent project management

Qualifications

• Master's degree in instructional design or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in instructional design in higher education or online learning.
• Proficiency with Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate and LMS platforms like Moodle or Canvas.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning theories, online pedagogy and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
• Excellent remote collaboration and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop online course content and modules for university programs with high engagement and pedagogical effectiveness.
• Collaborate with faculty to translate subject matter into structured, interactive online experiences.
• Create multimedia assets including video scripts, simulations, and engaging assessments.
• Apply best practices in instructional design, learning technologies and accessibility standards for online education.
• Manage multiple course development projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality guidelines.
