Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Geotechnical Engineer to support nationwide projects from a base near George. You will perform investigations, design foundations, assess slopes, and model ground conditions using GeoStudio and Plaxis.

The role requires strong communication, independent work in a remote setting, and a commitment to safety and quality. A Master’s degree and SA licensure are preferred, with 7+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr.Eng.) is highly desirable.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience including site investigations, analyses and design.
• Strong knowledge of soil/rock mechanics, foundation design, and slope stability analysis.
• Proficiency with geotechnical modelling software such as GeoStudio and Plaxis.

Responsabilités

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations and analyses for diverse project types across SA.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports including site characterisation and foundation design recommendations.
• Develop soil/rock testing programs and interpret results for design.
• Collaborate virtually with project teams, clients, and regulators to ensure success.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Remote Geotechnical Engineer to join their innovative team, serving clients nationwide from their base near George . This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa. You will be responsible for providing expert geotechnical assessments and recommendations for a wide array of projects, including large-scale civil infrastructure, mining operations, and renewable energy installations. The role requires a deep understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles. You will collaborate closely with project managers, other engineers, and clients, utilizing advanced software to model ground conditions and predict behaviour. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations and analyses for diverse project types across South Africa.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including site characterisation, foundation design recommendations, slope stability analyses, and seismic hazard assessments.
• Develop and implement soil and rock mechanics testing programs, interpreting results to inform design.
• Collaborate virtually with project teams, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure project success.
• Utilize specialised geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis) for modelling and analysis.
• Provide expert advice on earthworks, shallow and deep foundations, and ground improvement techniques.
• Oversee the quality control of geotechnical data collection and reporting.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments and technologies in geotechnical engineering.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng.) is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, encompassing site investigation, analysis, and design.
• Demonstrated expertise in soil and rock mechanics, foundation engineering, and slope stability analysis.
• Proficiency with geotechnical modelling software such as GeoStudio suite (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, etc.), Plaxis, or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
