Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a senior Geophysicist for our fully remote exploration team. You will analyze and interpret seismic data (2D/3D) to guide oil and gas prospects, deliver geological models, and generate interpretation maps and reports.

The role requires 7+ years in seismic processing and interpretation, with strong skills in Paradigm, ProMax, OpendTect, Petrel, and Kingdom. Collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams will be frequent in a virtual setting.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geophysics or related Earth Science field.
• 7+ years hands-on seismic data processing and interpretation.
• Proficiency with Paradigm, ProMax, OpendTect and interpretation workstations (Petrel, Kingdom).
• Strong understanding of seismic wave propagation and processing algorithms.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects remotely.
• Experience with SA geological basins is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Process, quality control, and interpret 2D/3D seismic data to map structures.
• Apply advanced seismic processing: migration, velocity analysis, attributes.
• Integrate seismic with wells, gravity, and magnetic data.
• Develop seismic-based geological models for exploration.
• Create seismic interpretation maps, cross-sections, and reports.
• Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers in a virtual environment.
• Evaluate survey design and seismic data acquisition programs.
• Keep abreast of new seismic techniques and technologies.
• Mentor junior geophysicists and share knowledge within the team.
