Placements24 is seeking a remote Exploration Geoscientist to join their Oil & Gas team. Analyze geological and geophysical data to identify hydrocarbon prospects and support growth objectives.

This fully remote role allows working from anywhere, including Polokwane or beyond, with advanced software and collaboration with global teams.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in oil and gas exploration.
• Proven expertise in seismic interpretation and basin analysis.
• Proficiency with industry-standard interpretation and modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for virtual team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and interpret geological and geophysical datasets, including seismic, well logs, and gravity/magnetic data.
• Develop and refine geological models of subsurface structures and sedimentary basins.
• Identify and assess potential hydrocarbon plays and exploration targets with associated risks and uncertainties.
• Utilize state-of-the-art geoscience software for data visualization, interpretation, and prospect mapping.
• Collaborate effectively with other geoscientists, engineers, and management teams in a virtual setting.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations for exploration strategies.
