About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist to join their remote operations team, focusing on environmental compliance and sustainability within the mining sector . In this role, you will be responsible for assessing environmental impacts, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards across various projects, all from a remote location. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to responsible resource development by providing expert environmental guidance and oversight. You will work closely with site teams and regulatory bodies to maintain high environmental performance, fostering a culture of sustainability and minimizing ecological footprints through diligent planning and monitoring. Key Responsibilities

Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for new and existing mining projects remotely.
Develop and implement environmental management plans (EMPs) in compliance with local and international regulations.
Monitor environmental performance indicators (e.g., water quality, air emissions, biodiversity) using remote sensing and data analysis.
Liaise with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure compliance and address environmental concerns.
Provide expert advice on environmental best practices and risk mitigation strategies to project managers.
Prepare and submit environmental reports, permit applications, and compliance documentation.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related environmental field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting or compliance, preferably within the mining industry .
Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting processes, and impact assessment methodologies.
Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis software.
Excellent report writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
