About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a dedicated Remote Environmental Scientist to ensure compliance with environmental regulations for their mining operations. This role is fully remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from any location. You will be responsible for monitoring environmental impacts, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring adherence to all relevant local and national environmental laws. Your expertise will be critical in guiding the company towards sustainable mining practices and maintaining our environmental stewardship commitments. This position allows you to make a significant impact on responsible resource development, particularly concerning operations in the Free State , from the comfort of your home office.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor environmental performance at mine sites and analyze data related to air quality, water quality, and land rehabilitation.
• Develop and implement environmental management plans and strategies to mitigate operational impacts.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental legislation, permits, and license conditions.
• Prepare detailed environmental reports, impact assessments, and compliance documentation.
• Conduct environmental risk assessments and recommend corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders on environmental matters.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental management, with a strong focus on the mining industry .
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and permitting processes in South Africa.
• Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and impact assessment methodologies.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills, suited for a remote work setting.
