Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Compliance Officer for a fully remote position within a South African energy sustainability team. You will monitor legislation, lead audits, and guide operations to comply with environmental laws and internal policies.

You will develop programs, prepare reports for authorities, and train staff, while collaborating with a remote-first team to minimize environmental impact across sites, including those near Polokwane.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental field or related discipline is required.
• At least 3 years in environmental compliance or sustainability.
• Strong knowledge of environmental laws and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret environmental legislation applicable to operations.
• Develop and implement environmental compliance programs and systems.
• Conduct audits and site inspections (remote or on-site).
• Prepare reports for regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
• Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide training on compliance procedures to staff.
