This fully remote role leverages your ability to work across engineering, project development, and operations teams.

You will evaluate battery chemistries, inverters, and EMS/DER solutions, develop performance models and integration strategies, and ensure safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 6+ years in energy storage.
• Deep knowledge of battery chemistries (Li-ion, flow) and power electronics.
• Experience with EMS and DER management.
• Proficiency in energy storage modeling and simulation tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify ESS for grid-scale, commercial, and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify energy storage systems (ESS) for various applications, including grid-scale, commercial, and industrial projects.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in the design, engineering, or deployment of energy storage systems, with a focus on battery technologies.
• Deep understanding of battery chemistries (e.g., Li-ion, flow batteries), power electronics, and grid interconnection standards.
• Proficiency in modeling and simulation tools for energy storage systems.
• Experience with energy management systems (EMS) and distributed energy resource (DER) management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a fully remote environment.
• Familiarity with South African energy market regulations and standards is a plus.
