Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Specialist to join a global industrial automation team. This fully remote role in South Africa requires designing and supporting advanced electrical systems, panels, schematics, and components while meeting IEC/UL/CE standards.

You will collaborate with virtual project teams, suppliers, and clients, providing remote technical support during installation, commissioning, and operation.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years hands-on experience in industrial electrical design and automation.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMIs, and industrial networks.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify electrical control panels and power distribution for industrial automation projects.
• Develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation using CAD software.
• Select appropriate components, PLCs, HMIs, drives, and sensors per project requirements.
• Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting to clients and field engineers during installation and commissioning.
• Collaborate with remote project managers, software engineers, and mechanical designers via online tools.
• Ensure designs adhere to IEC, UL, CE and safety standards.
• Participate in virtual design reviews and provide expert input.
• Maintain understanding of product portfolio and industry trends.

Requirements

• National Diploma or B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands‑on experience in industrial electrical system design and automation.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen‑Bradley), HMIs, and industrial communication networks (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical).
• Excellent understanding of industrial electrical codes and safety standards.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable working in a virtual environment.
• Ability to interpret and create complex electrical drawings and documentation.
