Placements24 client is a global leader in advanced technological solutions and seeks a Remote Electrical Systems Design Specialist to join its engineering division. This fully remote role enables work from anywhere in South Africa with a focus on Paarl-area projects.

You will lead from concept to documentation, perform calculations, ensure EMC and regulatory compliance, and collaborate with distributed teams. A master's/PhD or equivalent senior experience is required for this role.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, or a Bachelor's with significant equivalent experience.
• 10+ years progressive experience in electrical systems design.
• Expertise in analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, and control systems.
• Proficiency with ECAD tools and simulation software.
• Strong EMC and signal integrity knowledge.
• Experience with embedded systems and firmware interfaces.
• Proven ability to manage design projects independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex electrical systems from concept through detailed design and documentation.
• Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and component specifications using CAD and simulation software.
• Perform electrical calculations, including load analysis, circuit protection sizing, signal integrity analysis, and thermal management.
• Select and specify electrical components, considering performance, cost, availability, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers, software developers, mechanical designers, and project managers across different locations.
• Ensure designs adhere to relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues, providing technical expertise and support throughout the product lifecycle.
• Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and manufacturing support documentation.
• Stay abreast of emerging electrical engineering technologies and propose innovative design solutions.
• Effectively communicate design concepts, trade-offs, and progress updates to stakeholders through virtual meetings and written reports.
