Placements24 is seeking a creative and compassionate Remote Educational Play Therapist to deliver specialized support to children and families remotely, serving areas including Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.

You will use play-based therapeutic techniques delivered online to help children process emotions, improve social and cognitive development, and guide families toward a supportive home environment for therapeutic play.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Play Therapy, Child Psychology, Counseling or related field.
• Registered and licensed Play Therapist or equivalent credential.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in applying play therapy techniques with children.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct effective therapy remotely using digital tools.
• Strong understanding of child development, attachment theory, and trauma-informed care.
• Excellent communication, empathy, and ability to build rapport with children and families online.

Responsibilities

• Conduct virtual play-based assessments to understand children's emotional and developmental needs.
• Design and deliver engaging play therapy sessions tailored to individual children's goals via secure video conferencing.
• Educate and empower parents and caregivers with techniques to support their child's emotional regulation and development through play.
• Develop creative play therapy activities and materials that can be easily implemented at home.
• Collaborate with other professionals involved in a child's care on a remote basis.
• Maintain detailed case notes and track client progress in a secure electronic system.
