Placements24 is seeking a Crypto Data Scientist to join a leading quantitative trading firm in the cryptocurrency space. This remote-friendly role is based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, and focuses on analyzing large crypto datasets, building predictive models, and deriving insights for trading strategies.

The candidate should have a strong data science background, ML experience, and familiarity with blockchain data.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven Data Scientist with a portfolio of projects.
• Proficiency in Python and relevant data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
• Familiarity with cryptocurrency markets, trading platforms, and blockchain data is essential.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to explain complex concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process large datasets from exchanges and on-chain sources.
• Develop ML models for market prediction, sentiment analysis, and anomaly detection.
• Analyze market trends, volatility, and correlations.
• Build data pipelines and automated reporting systems for key metrics.
• Visualize data and present findings to trading and management teams.
• Collaborate with traders and portfolio managers to identify data-driven opportunities.
• Research new data sources and analytical techniques relevant to crypto markets.
• Evaluate model performance and refine models over time.
• Stay updated on advancements in data science, AI, and blockchain tech.
• Contribute to development of proprietary trading algorithms.
