Placements24 seeks a Blockchain Data Scientist for a remote role supporting our client’s operations in Benoni, Gauteng. You will analyze large on-chain and off-chain data, build predictive models, and extract insights to inform crypto market decisions.

Responsibilities include data collection and cleaning from explorers and APIs, dashboards, and clear communication of findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders, while staying current with blockchain analytics.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Scientist, with a focus on analyzing large, complex datasets.
• Strong proficiency in Python or R (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Solid understanding of statistical modeling, ML techniques, and data visualization.
• Familiarity with blockchain technology, cryptocurrency markets, and on-chain data analysis is desired.
• Experience with blockchain data tools and APIs (Etherscan, Dune Analytics, Nansen) is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, CS, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and process large datasets from blockchain explorers and APIs.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and key metrics.
• Develop and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms for tasks like transaction analysis, fraud detection, and market prediction.
• Design and build data pipelines for data extraction and transformation.
• Visualize data and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate data insights into features.
• Stay current with advances in data science, ML, and blockchain analytics.
• Develop dashboards and reports to monitor blockchain indicators.
• Contribute to data strategy and infrastructure development.
