Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Remote Construction Health and Safety Officer to support nationwide projects from a remote location. You will develop, implement, and monitor safety programs, conduct virtual risk assessments, and advise site teams on compliance and best practices.

With at least 5 years of construction HSE experience and strong knowledge of SA OHSA, you will drive incidents investigations, training, and record-keeping, leveraging technology to foster a strong safety culture

Qualifications

• Certified Health and Safety Practitioner or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction health and safety management.
• In-depth knowledge of South African OHS Act and Construction Regulations.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing effective safety programs.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills, with strong remote collaboration capabilities.
• Proficiency with safety management software and virtual meeting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety management systems for construction projects.
• Conduct remote risk assessments, audits, and inspections of project sites through virtual means and data analysis.
• Review and approve site-specific safety plans and method statements submitted by project teams.
• Provide expert advice and training on health and safety legislation and best practices to site personnel.
• Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventative measures.
• Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, and incident reports.
