Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Safety Officer to safeguard health and safety standards across construction sites in the Polokwane region. You will develop, implement, and monitor safety management systems, conduct site inspections, and deliver safety training to workers, contributing to a strong safety culture and the well‑being of personnel on site.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in OHS or equivalent.
• Registered as Safety Officer with a recognized professional body.
• 3+ years of construction safety management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of the OHS Act and SA safety regulations.
• Excellent communication, training, and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive site-specific safety management plans.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of construction sites, identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
• Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and implementing preventative measures.
• Provide safety training and toolbox talks to all site personnel, ensuring awareness of potential risks and safety procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Maintain safety records and documentation, including risk assessments and emergency preparedness plans.
