Placements24 is seeking a Civil Design Engineer with a strong structural focus for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will perform structural design and analysis for civil infrastructure and collaborate with a geographically dispersed team from a home office.

The position requires 6+ years of experience, a Civil/Structural degree, and proficiency with SAP2000, ETABS, Revit Structure and AutoCAD. Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng is highly desirable and a fast internet setup is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Minimum 6 years of civil/structural design experience.
• Proficiency with structural analysis/design software listed.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for bridges, walls, and buildings.
• Use advanced software for modeling, simulation and optimization.
• Develop detailed drawings, specs and reports for remote review.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers via virtual platforms.
• Ensure compliance with SANS and relevant codes.

About the Role

Our client is expanding its remote engineering capabilities and is seeking a talented Civil Design Engineer with a strong structural focus to join their virtual team. You will be responsible for the structural design and analysis of various civil infrastructure components, ensuring they meet stringent safety, performance, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for civil infrastructure elements such as bridges, retaining walls, and buildings.
• Utilize advanced engineering software for modeling, simulation, and design optimization.
• Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and technical reports suitable for remote review and approval.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, other engineers, and stakeholders through virtual communication platforms.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and other applicable codes.
• Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks on work produced by colleagues within the remote team.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in structural engineering and remote collaboration technologies.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documentation and proposals as required for projects originating from Mossel Bay or other regions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in civil and structural engineering design.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, Revit Structure, AutoCAD).
• Proven ability to work independently and manage workload effectively in a remote setting.
• Excellent command of written and verbal English communication for effective remote collaboration.
• High-speed internet connection and a dedicated, professional home office setup.
• Demonstrated experience in structural design for infrastructure projects.
