About the Role

Our client, a dynamic and growth-oriented junior exploration company focused on gold, is seeking a highly experienced Chief Mine Geologist to lead their geological efforts on a fully remote basis. This senior position requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of gold systems, exploration techniques, and resource modeling. You will be responsible for overseeing all geological aspects of exploration programs, guiding technical teams, interpreting data, and ensuring the accurate delineation of gold resources across multiple project areas, irrespective of physical location. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive exploration strategies and work programs for gold projects.

• Critically review and validate geological data, ensuring its integrity and suitability for resource estimation.
• Lead the process of geological modeling and resource estimation in accordance with international standards (e.g., JORC).

• Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations, and summaries for internal stakeholders and regulatory submissions.
• Ensure adherence to best practices in geological exploration, data management, and safety protocols.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in gold geology and exploration technologies.
• Conduct virtual site visits and analysis of exploration data from diverse field locations.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or PhD in Geology or Economic Geology.
• A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration geology, with a strong focus on gold systems.
• Demonstrated success in discovering and delineating gold resources.
• Expertise in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Micromine, Vulcan) and GIS.
• Proven experience in leading and managing exploration teams remotely.
• Excellent understanding of international resource reporting codes (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex geological concepts clearly.
• High degree of self-motivation, discipline, and organizational skills to succeed in a remote work environment.
• Proficiency in remote collaboration tools and technologies.
• Previous experience or familiarity with the geology of the Western Cape is a plus.
