Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Chemical Process Simulation Engineer to join a fully remote team, supporting operations in the Eastern Cape and beyond. The role centers on designing, modeling, and optimizing chemical processes using advanced simulation software from a home office.

You will develop dynamic and steady-state models, run sensitivity analyses, and validate results against plant data while collaborating with process engineers to translate simulations into practical design

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process simulation and modeling.
• Proficiency with industry-standard simulation software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ChemCAD, or similar.
• Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics and reaction kinetics.
• Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively communicate technical findings in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and utilize dynamic and steady-state process simulation models for various chemical processes.
• Perform sensitivity analyses and optimization studies to identify the best operating conditions.
• Validate simulation results against pilot plant or plant operational data.
• Collaborate with process engineers to integrate simulation outputs into process design and troubleshooting efforts.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications based on simulation results.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in process simulation software and techniques.
